This framework was developed through a workshop that brought together the expertise of previous Sustainable School participants, councils and educators. It contains five major outcomes areas and strategies to achieve these.

Major outcome areas contained in the plan include:
- Teaching and Learning Outcome
- Governance Outcome
- Partnership Outcome
- Support Structures Outcome
- School Environment Management Outcome
Each of these outcome areas has 3 key strategies.
Applying this plan as a strategy document requires the description of 'Actions' and the 'Indicators' specific for their school's projects or programs. We encourage School Communities to document these as part of their SEMP or Action Plan and make reference to the Sustainable School Plan strategies they are addressing
