Audits

Audits

Calculate the school's water, transport and energy use, as well as waste, recycling and paper purchasing.  Survey the school grounds and use the data collected to support students to model environmental solutions.

This data helps your students to work out action plans that are relevant for your school. Importantly, students,  parents and others who are part of the audit process gain a greater awareness and ownership of the environmental issues. Audits are a great learning tool.

Start by reviewing the school bills to identify usage and changes over time using the resource monitoring tools .Further student investigations can then be undertaken around the school to identify where savings and improvements could be made. Use the spreadsheets to record your findings and also to model solutions.

Grounds audits

Grounds audits

Grounds surveys can be conducted as a student investigation or as a more formal process by external organisations. Surveys are conducted to assist in developing plans and also to raise awareness about the local area within the school community. Go to grounds surveys for student investigations. Other links>
