Submitting resources and materials to the Sustainable Schools NSW website
Registered users will have the opportunity to provide (email, post, upload, input or submit) material ("Submissions") to the Sustainable Schools NSW site. Approval for this information to be included on the Sustainable Schools NSW website will be at the discretion of the relevant Managers, DECC – Manager Sustainability & Community Programs Division and DET Manager Environmental Education Unit.
People submitting materials to the Sustainable Schools NSW website are required to:
- confirm that they own copyright in all of the materials which are being uploaded to the website and include the following information © First name, Last name, Year.
- agree to make their Submission available to users of the website to copy, distribute, display, download and otherwise freely deal with the material for any purpose not including the modification or sale or use in advertising of any part of this material by third parties without the authority of the copyright holder.
Copyright will be retained by copyright holders who submit materials to the Sustainable Schools NSW website for publication. Copyright holders are invited to propose the category / area of the Sustainable Schools NSW website where their materials should reside. Sustainable Schools NSW is under no obligation to post or use any material provided by third parties and may remove any material at any time.
No compensation will be paid with respect to the use of Submissions.

Submission process
In the process of submitting work people will be requested to provide:
- their resource as a Word doc,
- contact information, to enable discussion of any proposed modifications of the materials (they will be edited only if required and your approval will be sought)
- confirmation the materials have been developed by you or your school and not sourced from a third party, this is for copyright reasons and confirmation your Principal approves its use on the Sustainable Schools NSW website
- approval for Sustainable Schools NSW to use the materials as part of the Sustainable Schools NSW program.
Generally, submissions will include student learning resources and case studies, however, if a submission does not fit these categories authors are invited to contact Sustainable Schools NSW to discuss the appropriate placement of materials.
There are several sections of the website with links that will assist you in submitting materials. When submitting materials, please refer to the checklist of actions (below) for the different types of information or inquiry. When submitting, an email box will activate to complete the submission.
Resources or learning materials
Please provide a short description of your resources or materials including all relevant details as in the checklist eg author, permission to use, student age/level, focus area, learning outcomes etc, attach your document as a word, X-cell or pdf document to the email message. Include your contact details as we may need to negotiate the materials inclusion.
Case Studies
Please include all relevant information as in the checklist, including permission to submit the work on behalf of the school. Case Studies will be referred to the School Principal for final approval.
Other resources
If you don't consider your materials to be in the above categories please forward to us via the submit process so we can negotiate its inclusion.
Use of material submitted
Sustainable Schools NSW will not sell material submitted by registered users. Sustainable Schools NSW will list your materials with acknowledgement. Sustainable Schools NSW will make every effort to include materials submitted. However, issues of privacy, copyright, quality and student safety and welfare have priority. Sustainable Schools NSW does not guarantee inclusion of all materials submitted. If your materials are not to be included on the website, Sustainable Schools NSW will inform you of this by return email. If you are unhappy with this decision, you can refer it to DET and DECC Managers by the website moderators, see Quality of Information statement. Submit your concerns to info@sustainableschools.nsw.edu.au with a copy of the materials and a request to have the matter referred to managers for a final decision.
Trademarks
The Sustainable Schools NSW website is part of DECC. You are not permitted to use any trademark from the Sustainable Schools NSW website, including the names and logos of the organisations listed, without the express permission of the Department or relevant third party/parties.
